Tis The Season to LOVE Alpaca
Double 8 Alpaca Ranch is located in beautiful western Loudoun County, Virginia which is approximately 50 miles from Washington, DC.
WE HAVE MOVED!! We are now located in Purcellville, Virginia on Harpers Ferry Road. We offer private farm tours for your family or small groups. Our tours are very educational. You get to excerience up close encounters with our furry friends and take memorable photos or selfies.
We have been raising alpacas and harvesting alpaca fleece in a sustainable and healthy way for ourselves and our community since 2005. We chose to raise alpacas due to their gentle nature and exquisite fleece, also called fiber. Concentrating on sound conformation, reproduction, noteable genetics, temperament, and fleece charastistics are the main goals of Double 8's breeding program. Production females, herd sires, stud services, and non-breeders are available for purchase.
The nutrition and training of alpacas at Double 8 Alpaca Ranch are of utmost importance. We believe that a nutrionally sound and well-trained alpaca is a happy and healthy alpaca. Our alpacas can be handled for routine health tasks such as weighing, toenail trimmings, deworming, shearing.
The fiber that we harvest from our herd is either sent to mill or hand processed here at the farm. We sell yarn, roving, and products such as socks, hats, scarves, gloves, and felted items, some hand-made and some made at our mills.
Double 8 Alpaca Ranch is the host farm to the Loudoun County 4H Alpaca Club. The 4H youth get to learn on our farm how to care for, train, and show alpacas and/or llamas at the Loudoun County Fair. Our farm has many gentle animals such as horses, alpacas, chickens and dogs that provide unconditional love to anyone who visits.
Double 8 Alpaca Ranch offers an array of services, such as consulting with and mentoring new alpaca farmers, farm tours, weddings, birthdays, and educational events for local school, 4-H, girlscouts and boyscouts. Even the German Consulate and a couple local veteran groups came to learn about farming with alpacas and agritourism here at Double 8 Alpaca Ranch.
If you are eager to either learn about or meet our alpacas & Llamas, please book your tour below. We look forward to sharing our beautiful farm and animals with you!
